Both Republicans announced their intention to run in this November's general election.
WARREN, NJ — George Lazo, the former Mayor and current Deputy Mayor of Warren, and Daniel Croson, a newly appointed member of the Warren Township Committee and a former member and president of the Warren K-8 Board of Education, have announced their intention to run in this November’s general election.
This past weekend, the Warren Republican Municipal Committee officially endorsed their candidacies.
Lazo, who was first elected in 2011, previously served on the Township Recreation Commission, was Secretary, Vice President, and President of Watchung Hills Pop Warner, and was a cofounder of Warren Youth Basketball Association (WYBA).

He said the upcoming campaign would focus on the issues most important to local residents, including quality of life, public safety, and the recent round of overdevelopment forced upon us by an unelected bureaucratic court.
"Over the course of my nearly 30 years living in Warren, I’ve seen firsthand what it takes to build a strong sense of community," Lazo said. "And as elected officials, we have a duty to preserve that, no matter what changes time brings. I’m proud of our record of fiscal responsibility, support of law enforcement, and pro-family programs and policies, and I look forward to a vigorous campaign."

Croson, who was sworn into office last month to fill a vacancy on the Committee, will be running
for his first full-term alongside Lazo.
Croson was elected to the Board of Education in 2021 following a campaign in which he personally visited the home of every registered voter in Warren.
"Warren is one of the best places in New Jersey to live, work, and raise a family," Croson said.
"That’s why we bought our first home here and why I’m so grateful that my son gets to grow up
here. But Warren didn’t get that way by accident – it got that way because of years of strong
Republican leadership and policies. I’m honored to run alongside Deputy Mayor Lazo and, with
your support, we will continue to stand up for our residents and taxpayers and make sure that
we preserve Warren’s quality of life for the next generation."
