Library Programs for Young and Old(er) Tonight

Caregivers can have a night off, and the bagpipers will play.

Looking for things to do today? Here are some events and other ideas for Tuesday to get you through:

  • Head to the library. There are two great programs at 7 p.m. tonight, one for the wee ones and one for adults. Kids will enjoy "The Bugs of Blackwood," a Sciencetellers program adding a little scientific information to a story about a bug inside the house; parents can step into the library's Program Room 1 for Lesley Parness' "Great Gardens of the Garden State" presentation. Parness knows her subject well—she's the superintendent of Horticultural Education at the Morris County Park Commission. Both programs require registration, so go online and follow the instructions.

  • Take a break. Caregivers spend day and night looking after others—but they can get tonight off. Stop by the Adult Day Care Center of the VNA of Somerset Hills, at 200 Mt. Airy Road in Basking Ridge, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for the “Caregivers Night Out,” a special evening for caregivers to gather, unwind and connect hosted by the United Way Caregivers Coalition. The night includes refreshments provided by Green Knoll Care & Rehabilitation and The Chelsea at Warren. Space is limited, so register today by emailing Stephanie Howland or give her a call at 908-253-6534.

  • Go hear the pipes a-calling: The Rampant Lion Pipe Band of Basking Ridge will be practicing from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the field at Bonnie Brae School, 3415 Valley Road in Liberty Corner (or at the Gazebo in Pleasant Valley Park in the event of rain).
