Rec Commission Adds a Little 'Grease' to Upcoming Car Cruise, Concert

Dancers will perform at Watchung Hills Regional parking lot, while onlookers enjoy classic cars.

The Take Flight Dance Center, in Millington, is adding some "Grease" to Warren's July 19 Rock, Doo Wop and Car Cruise event.

Students from the center will be strolling and dancing their way through the Car Cruise and Concert, in poodle skirts and bobby socks. Dressed in '50s and '60s styles, the students will be hoola-hooping, pogo sticking and roller skating their way across the parking lot, as well as dancing to DJ Frank's '50s and '60s tunes on the bandstand.

The students have some real incredible things planned for the evening—don't be surprised to see some hop scotch and ring tossing contests along the way. The students at Take Flight Dance learn everything from ballet and tap to acting.

All this fun takes place at Watchung Hills Regional High School, with the classic car show in the parking lot starting at 5:30 p.m. The star attraction will be the original car from the movie "Fast 'n Furious" with video and photo ops. The Doo-Wop concert begins at 8 p.m. in the new state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center staring the original lead of The Shirelles, Larry Chance and the Earls and Warren's own Bob Marino and Barbra Lawson.

VIP ticket holders can join a 7 p.m. "meet and greet" with the star performers.

Concert tickets are $10 to $30 each, and are available online from the Warren Township Recreation Commission. Tickets are available, but seating is limited so purchase now before it’s too late.

For general information or if you are a business and want to sponsor the music please contact the Warren Recreation Department at 908-753-8000, ext. 270, between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday-Friday. Walk-ins are welcomed.
