Sharon Friedman Steps in to Head New Chai Center for Jewish Life

Warren center to provide a new alternative for local Jewish families.

The Chai Center for Jewish Life, a newly formed Jewish community organization, proudly welcomes Sharon Friedman as its executive director.  The Chai Center, a progressive and egalitarian group, is designed to appeal to the unaffiliated by providing a unique combination of an innovative school, life-long learning opportunities, worship experiences, and affordable cost.

Ms. Friedman is dynamic, energetic and creative and brings twenty years of experience as a director of Jewish education.  Sharon Friedman’s love of Judaism, strong knowledge base, impeccable people skills, compassion for children, and practical experience make her the perfect choice to lead the Chai Center for Jewish Life towards its goals of building an inclusive and affordable Jewish community.

The Chai Center for Jewish Life is not affiliated with any specific Jewish movement. We are open to those who would like to be part of a Jewish community, but thus far have not found an appropriate established spiritual home. Believing that the cost of membership should not be a financial obstacle to Jewish affiliation, the Chai Center has taken an innovative approach.  Each household decides its contribution level; there is no mandatory amount to belong; and you may register children in our Learning Center without paying membership dues.

The Center, known as a chavura (group of friends) has a one-day a week (Sunday) Learning Center for children in preschool through high school; weekly Saturday morning worship and  study; monthly Friday evening Share-A-Shabbat gatherings; opportunities to partake in structured social action projects; and High Holiday services.

Our Learning Center, for children from Pre Kindergarten through High School, is now accepting registration for September. All children meet on Sunday mornings at 266 King George Road in Warren. Using a high energy, camp-style approach, the atmosphere is warm, friendly, and informal. Experienced, nurturing staff help build a positive Jewish community environment.
