Somerset County Announces May Recycling Drop-Off, Holiday Closing
Residents can recycle numerous items at the First Saturday of the Month drop-off event.

Somerset County officials announced the First Saturday of the Month drop-off event and dates in which the Somerset County Recycling Center plans on closing.
The First Saturday of the Month drop-off will take place on Saturday, May 2, at the Somerset County Recycling Center, 40 Polhemus Lane in Bridgewater, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents can recycle various items including tires, clean textiles and usual curbside items.
Residents are allowed to drop off up to eight tires, with or without rims, scrap metal, used motor oil, oil filters, antifreeze and usual curbside materials, the county said.

The First Saturday of the Month drop-off event will not accept household hazardous waste. Additionally, the county no longer accepts electronics at the First Saturday of the Month drop-off events. Residents can recycle unwanted electronics at Newtech Recycling Inc., located at 600A Apgar Drive, Somerset.
Residents can drop off electronic items at Newtech Recycling Inc. on select Saturdays, including May 2, June 6, July 11, Aug. 1, Sept. 5, Oct. 3, Nov. 7 and Dec. 5, Somerset County officials said.

In addition to announcing recycling event dates, Somerset County said the recycling center will be closing in observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 25.
