Do you want to learn more about your personal device? This fall, the Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services will host two educational programs about personal electronic devices (for instance, smart phones and tablets) for people age 60 and above.
Volunteers representing the New Jersey Oxygen Employee Resource Group will review different types of personal electronic devices, discuss how they work and offer tips on how to select a device for purchase. Afterwards, attendees will have the opportunity to talk to the experts, show them their personal devices and ask questions.

AT&T is proud to participate in the technology programs to provide free training on today’s smartphones, tablets and wireless services. This is part of a free, national education program provided by AT&T volunteers for mature adults across the country. Participants do not need to be AT&T customers. In many cases AT&T volunteers bring smartphones and tablets to the seminars, but attendees are welcome to bring their personal wireless device for the training.
AT&T employees taking part in the free training are part of the New Jersey OxyGen Employee Resource Group that is committed to giving back to communities in the Garden State through volunteerism.
For those who wish to make a lunch reservation, a suggested lunch donation for guests age 60 and above is $2; the cost of lunch for those under age 60 is $6.99.
The Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services operates seven multipurpose facilities that offer a variety of educational, recreational and entertaining activities for active older adults, including wellness programs and health screenings. The centers are accessible to individuals with disabilities.
Somerset County senior centers offer a wide range of experiences designed for lifelong enrichment in a social and uplifting atmosphere, intended to positively impact overall health. Many of these programs are funded, in part, through the Older Americans Act.
Help the Office on Aging and Disability Services improve existing services by taking a Needs Assessment Survey (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CB68ZG7). The purpose of this survey is to get the opinions of residents on what services are needed to ensure quality of life for older adults. We will use this information to guide decisions about the provision of community-based senior services in Somerset County.
