Fire Rages Through Geiger Lane Home in Warren

A family escaped injury as a three-alarm fire destroyed their Geiger Lane home Thursday night in Warren Township.

The fire remains under investigation, Warren Township Police Lt. Herbert Hentschel said. Hentschel said the case has been referred to the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutor's Office Spokesman Capt. Jack Bennett said only that the family was home and got out safely when the the fire began. He said there were no injuries at the scene.

Warren Township Fire Chief Michael LoSapio said firefighters arrived at the scene at about 9:50 p.m. and found visible flames in all directions. 

The chief requested a second alarm assignment that was escalated to a third alarm.

The fire took approximately an hour to place under control, LoSapio said. He also said there were no department or civilian injuries.

Early Friday afternoon, LoSapio said the cause is still under investigation.

In addition to Warren Township, the Green Brook, Martinsville, Liberty Corner, Watchung and Finderne fire departments responded to the scene.

EMS support was provided by Liberty Corner, Martinsville and Warren Rescue Squads, LoSapio said. Standby units from Bound Brook, Millington and Green Knoll were at the Warren firehouses, and North Plainfield and Berkeley Heights were  standing by at their headquarters, the chief added.
