Green Brook Student Earns Gold Medal at Leadership Conference

Daniel Marcinek attended the 2013 SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City, Mo.

Daniel Marcinek, of Green Brook, picked up a Gold Medals at the 2013 SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference held in Kansas City, Mo. 

He was among the students from Somerset County Vocational and Technical High School who earned a total of 14 medals. Out of those 14 medals, seven were gold medals for a first place finish in the Quiz Bowl Competition.

The complete list of students who received medals is as follows:

Gold: Noah Alsamadisi of Bridgewater, Soham Shah of Hillsborough, Jean-Pierre Jacob of North Plainfield, Madeline Kestenbaum of Branchburg, Daniel Marcinek of Green Brook, Katie Furman of Flemington, and Alex Shu of Somerset - Quiz Bowl

Silver: Yesha Parekh of Ringoes - Medical Terminology; Abhishek Shrinet of South Bound Brook, Apurva Swapnil of Hillsborough, and Shawn Young of Martinsville - Career Pathways Showcase: Natural Resources/Agriculture/Food

Bronze: Aaron Lee of Raritan, Harini Prayaga of Bridgewater, and Kiran Raja of Bridgewater - Career Pathways Showcase: Marketing, Sales and Services

“It was an extremely beneficial and successful trip for all the students," Somerset County Vocational and Technical High School Principal Diane Ziegler said. “It was especially heartwarming that upon our arrival back to SCVTHS, we were greeted by cheering parents and balloons.

“I would personally like to commend all the instructors and support staff who worked so tirelessly with the students, so they are able to compete at the state and national levels," she added. "It truly is a team/community wide effort.”
