ICYMI: Watchung-Green Brook Crime - See The Latest Data

The Department of Law and Public Safety recently released the 2013 Uniform Crime Report (UCR), which shows crime data for the state and municipalities.

The report, which was released on Friday, April 17, that Green Brook saw a decrease in violent crime in 2013, compared to 2012. The township also reported fewer instances of non-violent crime in 2013, compared to the previous year.

Watchung saw an increase in violent crime in 2013, compared to 2012. The township also reported more instances of non-violent crime in 2013, compared to the previous year.
The Department of Law and Public Safety’s report indicated New Jersey’s overall crime rate decreased by seven percent in 2013, compared to 2012, according to a press release from the department.

Green Brook reported three violent crimes in 2013, down from six in 2012, and the violent crime rate per 1,000 people decreased from 0.8 in 2012 to 0.4 in 2013. The township reported 126 non-violent crimes in 2013, down from 142 in 2012, and the non-violent crime rate per 1,000 dropped from 19.6 to 17.4.

Watchung reported six violent crimes in 2013, up from two in 2012, and the violent crime rate per 1,000 people increased from 0.3 in 2012 to 1.0 in 2013. The township reported 374 non-violent crimes in 2013, up from 338 in 2012, and the non-violent crime rate per 1,000 jumped up from 57.9 to 65.1.
