Neither the pilot nor his passenger were injured after their plane sustained damage to its left wing when they took off from Hillsborough.

Neither the pilot nor his passenger were injured after their plane sustained damage to its left wing when they took off from Central Jersey Regional Airport in Hillsborough Township on Saturday.

Police say Ross Cole, the pilot, and his passenger, Pamela Cole, had already exited the plane, 993 Mooney M20M, by the time they arrived. The pair were flying from New York to Pennsylvania, but stopped in Hillsborough to refuel, according to nj.com.

Cole told authorities it was about 2:45 p.m. When his plane struck a chain link fence adjacent to the runway and damaged the left wing. He was able to make a controlled emergency landing about 1,500 feet from the end of the runway, according to sgate.com.
