UPDATE: Multiple Accidents Cleared on I-78

Rain blamed for string of mishaps.

State Police at Somerville barracks said officers were still out along I-78 in the vicinity of Warren Township, Berkeley Heights and Watchung on Friday afternoon clearing multiple accidents, with most of the disabled vehicles moved onto the shoulder as of shortly before 3:30 p.m.

A trooper added at about 4 p.m. that the accidents had been mostly cleared by that time, except for residual accidents.

Another officer blamed what he said were about 10 accidents, none fatal, on the rain.
