Men Stole Packages From UPS Truck Parked At Wayne Mall: Police
An officer recognized the suspects' vehicle more than a week later, and charged two Philadelphia residents with theft and other crimes.
WAYNE, NJ — Wayne Police said they arrested two Philadelphia residents who are accused of stealing packages from a UPS driver's truck earlier this month.
The driver reported that he was making deliveries at Willowbrook Mall on April 2, when someone went into the truck and took several packages, said authorities.
Investigating officers obtained surveillance footage that showed two people committing the theft and the vehicle they were driving, officials said.

Police said that Officer Matthew Bernardo, who responded to the original theft call on April 2, recognized the vehicle more than a week later. Bernardo was on patrol at the mall on April 12 and observed the driver commit several driving violations, said officials.
Bernardo stopped the vehicle and several other officers arrived as backup. Police detained all three men in the car, and also found burglars' tools as well as clothing that matched what the UPS truck theft suspects were wearing.

Police said the driver, Khiale Warren, and passenger Frederick Goodwin were arrested and charged in connection with the delivery truck theft. Officers said Goodwin provided a false name and was also wanted on warrants for burglary and larceny in other towns. Goodwin also had Percocet on his person, authorities said.
Police charged Warren, 50, with burglary, theft, and possession of burglar tools. Goodwin, 41, was charged with burglary, theft, possession of burglar tools, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Both were taken to the Passaic County Jail.
A third man from Philadelphia was arrested, as police said he had outstanding warrants from multiple New Jersey towns; he was not suspected in the earlier UPS theft.
