The following was submitted to Patch by the Boys & Girls Club.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest New Jersey is pleased to announce that Wayne resident Nick Tobias has been selected as the 2014 Youth of the Year.

Nick was chosen after an exhausting selection process that saw qualified participants from both the Boys & Girls Club of Wayne and the Boys & Girls Club of Pequannock. He was selected based on his years of involvement with the Club, his dedication to the community at large, and his involvement in extracurricular activities.

Nick began his time with the Boys & Girls Club of Wayne at the age of five in the Summer Camp program. He quickly became involved in the many athletic programs and character development programs offered through the Club.

In high school, Nick joined the Keystone Club, a community service group for teens. Nick feels that his involvement in the Keystone Club offered through the Club has helped his own personal development by allowing him to become more active in her community.

Nick is active in his school community at Wayne Valley High School as well, participating in football and baseball while carrying a 3.3 GPA. Nick also helps his community through involvement in Keystone Club activities including Trunk-or-Treat, Free Throws for Aids, Parents’ Night Out, and Breakfast with Santa.
