Councilman Charged With Inappropriate Touching In Passaic County

Police said the 32-year-old intimately touched someone at a township residence.

WEST MILFORD, NJ — A West Milford councilman faces charges of criminal sexual contact and harassment after he touched someone inappropriately at a township residence, said the Passaic County Prosecutor.

West Milford Police got a report on Feb. 4 that Matthew P. Conlon "touched the intimate part of an adult victim in an unwelcome and inappropriate manner" within a residence, Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said.

The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victim’s Unit began an investigation, and charged Conlon via complaint summons, Valdes said. Officials did not specify if he has been taken into custody.

If convicted, Conlon faces up to 18 months in New Jersey State Prison on the fourth-degree criminal sexual contact charge and 30 days in county jail on the charge of harassment. He is represented by Matthew Priore, Esq.

As of Friday morning, Conlon was still listed on the township council page.
