Crash Kills 61-Year-Old Wayne Woman, Police Say

Crash was Sunday morning at the intersection of Ratzer Road and Oakwood Drive, police say.

A Sunday morning car accident in Wayne claimed the life of a township woman, police announced in a release.

According to Wayne Lt. Daniel Daly, 61-year-old Rona Kling was tuning left from Oakwood Drive onto Ratzer Road at about 9:53 a.m. Sunday when her Mercedes struck a Ford F-150 traveling east on the roadway.

Kling was unconscious after the crash, and transported St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson, Daly said.

She was pronounced dead at the hospital at 10:25 a.m., Daly said.

The driver of the Ford, William Spirig, 55, also of Wayne, was transported to St. Joseph’s, treated for minor injuries, and released, police said.

Cops said the investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Wayne Police Traffic Bureau at 973-633-3520.
