Englewood Area Crash In Winter Storm

An overturned truck on Route 4 is causing delays.

ENGLEWOOD, NJ — The winter storm that is blanketing North Jersey with snow, sleet, and freezing ice caused some crashes on major highways Tuesday.

There was an overturned truck on Route 4 westbound in Englewood near Interstate 95 and the George Washington Bridge. Two lanes are closed causing a 20-minute delay.

A crash on the Garden State Parkway southbound at 165 was blocking a lane, 511nj.org, the state's emergency traffic notification system, reported.

Roads are slick and icy throughout North Jersey and are predicted to worsen as the day progresses.

Gov. Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency Monday night and a partial travel ban was put in place. Schools throughout the state were closed Tuesday. The commute home is expected to be treacherous for motorists.

"It's going to be a mess pretty much everywhere," Murphy said.
