After Stolen Car Claim, Woman Charged With Insurance Fraud: Passaic Prosecutor

Officials said the woman tried to get reimbursed for a vehicle theft that happened before she got insurance coverage.

PATERSON, NJ — Passaic County officials have charged a Rockaway woman after saying she lied to try and get a reimbursement from her insurance company.

The prosecutor's office launched an investigation last January after receiving a tip that Christie Reyes had provided false information while trying to get coverage for her car, authorities said.

According to the prosecutor's office, Reyes filed for a reimbursement for the vehicle being stolen, but the theft happened before her insurance policy started. Officials did not specify the amount claimed.
