Passaic County Man Who Wanted To Pay Students For Sex Sentenced
Thomas Weir, 56, wanted to pay the students in exchange for sex, authorities said.

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ —An ex-Paterson teacher was sentenced to three years in state prison after admitting he tried to solicit sex acts from students for money, authorities announced.
Thomas Weir, 56, of Paterson had "sexually explicit conversations" with three Kennedy High School students over Facebook and on text messages, said Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes. Weir wanted to pay the students to exchange for sex acts, Valdes said.
Weir pleaded guilty Aug. 1 to attempted endangering the welfare of a child, endangering the welfare of a child, and engaging in prostitution, Valdes said.

Judge Marilyn C. Clark imposed the sentenced on Weir Friday. Weir will be subject to parole supervision for life under Megan's Law and must surrender his New Jersey teaching license.
