PATERSON, NJ — A North Jersey police officer has been charged with stalking, cyber harassment, and making terroristic threats.
A Passaic County grand jury indicted Paterson officer Alberto Sanabria "on multiple acts of domestic violence," the county prosecutor said on Monday. The charges are linked to an incident that took place on Dec. 23, 2023, officials said; no further details were released.
Sanabria, 38, faces up to eight years in prison if convicted on all charges, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes' office. He faces a third-degree charge of terroristic threats, a fourth-degree charge of cyber harassment, and a fourth-degree charge of stalking.

The New Jersey Attorney General's Office assumed control of the Paterson Police Department in March of 2023, following the police shooting death of Najee Seabrooks. Six Paterson officers have also pleaded guilty in a long-running federal corruption probe in recent years, another contributing factor to what AG Matthew Platkin said was an erosion of public trust in the department.
