Postal Service Considers Delivery Changes for Willowbrook Mall

Mail delivery could become more centralized in effort to curb costs.

Local postal authorities are considering changing mail delivery service to Willowbrook Mall in a way which would include cluster mailboxes as opposed to door-to-door delivery to save money, according to Wayne Today.

The change is being considered to conserve costs, as mail delivery directly to one door can cost up to $350 a year per customer, and the U.S. Postal Service overall is looking to curb costs, according to the newspaper. Door delivery to residential customers could also be reduced, with the exception of to disabled customers, if a congressional committee looking to centralize some delivery points has its way.

The Willowbrook Mall delivery option is already being done by other malls in New Jersey and the mailboxes would only be accessible to business owners. The postal service would install and secure the boxes inside the mall, Wayne Today reported.
