Reloaderz Shooting Range Opens In Wayne

The range is located where Fuddrucker's used to be on Route 23 South. It caters to all levels of gun enthusiasts, from beginners to experts.

WAYNE, NJ — Reloaderz shooting range does not want to cater to just gun enthusiasts. They want to cater to everyone: Law enforcement personnel, women, people who have never fired a gun in their lives, and even couples who are looking for a cool date night idea.

The range opened Saturday at the former Fuddrucker's on Route 23 North, across from the Kohl's store. The range has a clean and professional look to it.

"My idea was to create a range for everybody," said Cheryl Nylen, Reloaderz's owner and president. "We didn't want this to be an intimidating place."

First-timers must watch a safety video before their 30 minutes of range time begins. The sound-proof range features computer terminals that allow shooters to select their target's distance and other options, including a series of pre-loaded distance and lighting programs.

Nylen had to get approval from the town, county, state, and federal government before Reloaderz opened. She had members of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives train staff.

Reloaderz already sells a variety of handguns and rifles and more are coming, Nylen said.

Fuddrucker's being there first made it easy for Nylen to pick that location. Fuddrucker's had an amusement and entertainment permit for its arcade and the space is already big enough to accommodate 25-yard-long shooting stalls.

Walk-ins are welcome. Annual memberships cost between $299 for law enforcement officers and members of the military to $2,499 for a VIP package. There is a separate lounge and entrance for VIPs.

Monthly memberships are $39.99 for weekdays only and an additional $19.99 for weekends.

Gun rentals cost either $5 or $10 for handguns to $15 for long guns, depending on one's membership level.

"We want to create a market where we cater to people who may have thought, 'Oh, I've always wanted to try that sport, but I've never felt safe or the place I was at wasn't clean.'" Nylen said. "We want to make everyone feel welcome."
