Vacant Restaurant's Owners Consider Bringing Second Wawa To Wayne
The plan would involve tearing down a former hibachi grill and buffet for a new Wawa on Hamburg Turnpike.

WAYNE, NJ — It hasn't been long since the first Wawa in Wayne Township opened its doors to local hoagie- and smoothie-lovers. Now, the owners of a vacant buffet on Hamburg Turnpike are considering building a second one, according to officials and a report.
The site is at 862 Paterson Hamburg Turnpike, near the intersection with Valley Road — most recently the Hibachi Grill Buffet, and also the former site of Casey O'Toole's. Property owners Spylen Development are proposing a 5,915-square-foot Wawa market with six fuel pumps and 57 parking spots, according to northjersey.com.
First, the existing restaurant and a residential structure on the lot would have to be torn down, the report said. Township planner Chris Kok told Patch on Wednesday that the owners have not yet filed a demolition permit.
