Wayne Township Schools Calendar Changes For Memorial Day Weekend

The district is using its last emergency day to schedule an extra day off, part of a Wellness Weekend for students.

WAYNE, NJ — Students at Wayne Township Schools will have a little extra time to relax on Memorial Day weekend, the district announced.

This year's school calendar included four "emergency days" for inclement weather, and the district has only used three up to this point.

Last week, the Board of Education voted to use the last emergency day to extend the Memorial Day weekend and close schools on Friday, May 24.

The weekend will be a "Wellness Weekend" for students, meaning they will not have any homework or assignments and can focus on relaxing with their family and friends.

All schools are also closed for Memorial Day on Monday, May 27 and will resume classes on that Tuesday.

This schedule is subject to change if the district would need to use that emergency day for any reason.

The district recently rolled out a new Wayne Township Public Schools app for mobile devices, where parents and students can stay up-to-date with news, events, and announcements as well as emergency notifications and student stories.
