Boy, 10, Fatally Shot In South Jersey: Police
The child was shot in the head, according to officials.
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A 10-year-old boy was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon in Washington Township, authorities said.
Police responded to a report of a child with a gunshot wound just after 2:30 p.m. at a home on the 400 block of Westminster Boulevard.
The boy had been shot in the head, police said.

The circumstances around the shooting remain unclear as of this writing. Washington Township police and the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office are investigating.
The child was a student at nearby Birches Elementary School, said Police Chief Patrick M. Gurcsik.

"This incident has deeply impacted the entire Washington Township community," Gurcsik said in a statement. "Counseling and support services are being coordinated through the school district for students, staff, and families affected by this heartbreaking loss."
Police withheld additional details on Tuesday afternoon out of respect for the privacy of the victim's family.
