EMT Admits To Stealing From Patient's Purse In Gloucester Co.
He pleaded guilty to theft after rummaging through the victim's purse while dispatched. Here's what's next.
NEWFIELD, NJ — A Gloucester County EMT must forfeit his job and serve probation after pleading guilty Monday to stealing from a patient's purse.
Antoni Simmons was dispatched April 30 to aid a patient in Newfield when he rummaged through her purse and stole about $220 in cash, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office. Investigators say they later witnessed the act on surveillance footage.
Simmons, 44, of Glassboro, pleaded guilty to theft by unlawful taking, a disorderly persons offense.

Under the plea deal, Simmons must serve a year of probation and pay restitution to the victim. He also must forfeit his employment with Gloucester County EMS and will be permanently banned from public employment in New Jersey.
