Fallen Tree Strikes House As Damaging Winds Push Through South Jersey
A street lamp also fell onto a car windshield in the township minutes just minutes before that, police said.
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A 100-foot tree fell and struck a house Friday in Gloucester County as damaging winds blew threw the region.
The tree fell around 2:50 p.m. on a house on Beech Avenue in Washington Township, police said. A resident safely escaped with his infant.
The home was heavily damaged, and temporary housing is being arranged, police said.

Twenty-five minutes earlier, a street lamp fell through a vehicle windshield on Jamie Drive in Washington Township, police said.
No injuries were reported in either incident.

Washington Township officers have been removing tree branches from the roadway throughout the day as powerful winds continue to push through the region.
Gusts of at least 50 mph hit Washington Township mid-afternoon Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
Police advised the public to use caution.
"We are thankful no one was injured today and appreciate the quick, coordinated response of all agencies involved," Washington Township police said in a statement.
