Horse Hurt, Turnpike at Standstill After Crash

The 2 p.m. crash is still being felt as the evening rush hour begins on the NJ Turnpike's northbound lanes near Woodbury.

A mid-afternoon crash on the New Jersey Turnpike snarled traffic and injured a horse.

The crash involved a horse trailer, and the animal was injured, the South Jersey Times reports.

A blue pickup truck involved in the accident was towed away from the scene. Its flatbed was largely crumpled in.

Drivers reported delays of up to two hours as they waited for the crash to clear. While traffic started moving again around 4:30 p.m., delays on the turnpike's northbound lanes next exit 3 backed up for about 3 miles, according to 511nj.org.
