Knife-Wielding Man Allegedly Exposes Himself to Dollar Store Shoppers in Argument

An argument in the parking lot of a West Deptford dollar store last week turned violent and strange when one man allegedly threatened another with a knife and exposed himself to two other people.   

On October 4, West Deptford K9 Officer Joseph LaMalfa was dispatched to the Family Dollar store on Route 45 for a report of a fight in the parking lot.

There he met Barry Norton of Woodbury and Gina Williams of West Deptford.

Norton told LaMalfa that he had been sitting in his truck waiting for Williams to leave the store, when they encountered 22-year-old Stephan Michael Mullin of Westville. 

Mullin allegedly said something to Williams that led Norton to confront him verbally. Then, police said, Mullin pulled out a small knife and threatened to “stab [Norton] in his fat belly.”

The two kept arguing, but nothing physical happened.

Williams told police that when she saw the knife, she started to scream at Mullin  while she was walking back to the car. 

Then, Mullin allegedly pulled his pants down and exposed himself to her, saying something lewd in the process, before driving away.

Williams said she was upset because her 6-year-old daughter was in the vehicle, and all three reportedly witnessed the alleged act.

Mullin fled in his vehicle, the license plates of which Williams and Norton recorded and provided to police. 

Mullin was served with complaints at his home for threatening to kill, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and lewdness.

Mullin provided no statements to police, and was released pending a court date.
