Zach Coro, Jake Podmaska and Larry Dureault combined for the fourth no-hitter in 23 years of regional play at West Deptford as Johnston, RI defeated Caroline North, MD, 6-0, in Saturday action at the Senior League Baseball Eastern Regional.

The trio faced 26 batters and did not allow a hit, striking out four and walking five. Coro earned the win, working the first four innings. All four no hitters have been recorded in the last five years.

Johnston scored its six runs with the benefit of just three hits, one of them a two-run double by Mike Caparco. Caroline North pitcher Joseph Burack allowed just one hit in 4-2/3 innings of work, but he walked seven batters in taking the loss.

Kennett took advantage with three errors with two outs that extended the inning. That turned a 9-8 deficit into a 14-9 lead.

Allegany County mounted a comeback in the seventh, plating one run and had two runners on with two outs when the game ended on a weird play. With a 2-2 count, Cole Tracy was struck with a pitch while beginning his swing. Home plate umpire Jim Miller ruled that Tracy had indeed attempted to hit the ball, resulting in a dead ball strike, which became the third strike and ended the game, despite objections from the Allegany County coaches.

The game was a back and forth affair all day as Allegany jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first, only to see KAU take a 7-5 lead in the fourth. Allegany countered with its own four-spot in the fourth to regain the lead, 9-7.

Reston Pettit, Kirby Weinhauer, Brett Miglore and Andrew Weigman each had two hits for Allegany County.

Drew Jarmuz was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI while Andrew Jones went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a double to lead KAU. Jones earned the win in relief, going the final 3-2/3 innings, allowing four hits and one run.

Allegany County will face Edgewood Little League from Bristol, CT in an elimination game Sunday at 2 pm.

Naamans, DE 10, Buena, NJ 7

In a wild affair, Naamans Little League of Wilmington, DE scored four times in the fifth and two in the sixth to rally to beat Buena, NJ, 10-7, in Saturday night action at the Senior League Baseball East Regional.

The Delaware champs will face their backyard neighbors, KAU Little League from Kennett Square, PA in a winner's bracket game at 7:30 pm on Sunday. Buena will play in a Monday elimination bracket game against an opponent to be determined.

The teams combined for 16 hits, 11 errors, 13 walks and 16 runners on base.

Richie Windon picked up the save in relief and went 2-for-3 at the plate. T.J. Tommes worked 1-2/3 innings of relief to earn the win. Tomes also had an RBI hit and a run scored in the win.

Dom Lopez went 3-for-3 with two runs scored for Buena.

Quincy, MA 11, Bar Harbor, ME 2

Aaron Clancy and Robert Salvucci each had two hits and two RBIs as Quincy, MA defeated Acadian Little League of Bar Harbor, ME, 11-2, in Saturday action at the 2013 Senior League Baseball Eastern Regional.

Quincy scored four times in the first for the early lead. Troy Shepard had a two-run double in that opening frame. Acadian scored twice in the fourth to make things interesting. Santos Henggeler had an RBI double in the inning. But a base running blunder ended the threat prematurely.

Quincy scored three times in the fourth and fifth innings, however, to blow the game wide open. Meanwhile, David Suslowicz came on to pitch the final two innings for Quincy, retiring all six batters he faced including four by strikeout.

Acadian will face Glassboro, NJ in an elimination game Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
