Volunteers Needed for Thorofare Serv-a-Tray Program

Weekday volunteers are needed to help prepare and distribute meals to county residents. Drivers are reimbursed for their mileage.

For those interested in giving a little something back to the community this holiday season, weekday volunteers are needed to help with the Gloucester County Serv-a-Tray program.

Headquartered in the Thorofare Fire Hall, the program packages and delivers nutritious meals to seniors in the county who are confined to their homes.

Hot meals are served weekdays and frozen meals are provided for the weekends. The program is funded by the Gloucester County Division of Senior Services.

Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. to noon to help prepare, package, and deliver meals in West Deptford, National Park, Westville, and Deptford. Drivers are reimbursed for their mileage.

Serv-a-Tray distributes as many as 560 of the 1,700 meals it sends out county-wide from the Thorofare fire company every week, according to a statement from Gloucester County Freeholders.
