15-Year-Old Boy Hit By Car In Westfield, Driver Ticketed

A Westfield woman received two tickets after hitting the 15-year-old pedestrian in a marked crosswalk on Wednesday, police said.

WESTFIELD, NJ — A 15-year-old boy from Westfield was hit by a car on Wednesday at the intersection of Rahway Avenue and Schackamaxon Drive, according to Police Sgt. Michael Walsh.

Walsh said the driver, a 54-year-old woman from Westfield, was traveling south on Rahway Ave. and attempted to make a left hand turn onto Shackamaxon Drive, but hit the pedestrian in a marked crosswalk at said intersection.

The 15-year-old was not rushed to hospital. His injuries included a cut on his hand, as well as hip pain, Walsh said.

The driver was issued two tickets — one for careless driving, and the other for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, Walsh said.
