50th Westfield High School Reunion To Be Held In October
Westfield High School's class of 1971 will celebrate its 50-year reunion with a weekend full of sports games, entertainment, food and more.

WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield High School Class of '71 will celebrate its 50th reunion with a weekend of festivities and a formal dinner party at Echo Lake Country Club on Saturday, Oct. 15.
The class of baby boomers is one of the largest to graduate from Westfield High School, with more than 700 classmates. After getting postponed for a year due to COVID, the large class will finally get to reunite this October.
Like so many classes before and after, the class of 1971 held its graduation ceremony at the Fieldhouse on June 23, 1971. Many graduates were members of the National Honor Society, National Merit Scholars and All Star Athletes.

"The response thus far to this long-awaited special occasion has been very gratifying," the reunion committee wrote in a press release.
The committee also reports a growing list of RSVPs from all over the country.

The itinerary thus far includes:
- Friday, October 14, 3:30 p.m.: Guided tour of WHS and In Memoriam Tree Dedication for deceased classmates. Meet at entrance on Dorian Road.
- Friday, October 14, 7:00 p.m.: Away football game at Ridge High School.
- Friday, October 14, 7-11 p.m.: Informal welcome get-together at Headquarters Hotel, Holiday Inn, Clark. Appetizers and fun! The WHS Class of ’72, also celebrating their 50th reunion, will the join the group for a joint “Meet and Greet.” Local people from the classes of ’68-’71 also are welcome to attend. Cost: $40 TO BE PAID IN ADVANCE, plus pay your own bar.
- Saturday, October 15: Classmate seminars at Holiday Inn, Clark, – 10:00 a.m. – Tom, “Tender” Polman, ’71, to discuss his new venture, Bea’s Place, a new intergenerational living concept. Tom also will provide entertainment throughout the weekend. 11:00 a.m. -- Steve Reddy, ’72, to discuss his new basketball book, “A Ball With No Points.”
- Saturday, October 15, 1:00 p.m.: Union Country Soccer Championship, Johnson Regional High School, Clark, NJ
- Saturday afternoon: Free time to visit with friends and enjoy a variety of optional events in hometown of Westfield.
- Saturday, October 15, 7-11 p.m.: Reunion dinner at Echo Lake Country Club. Entertainment provided by classmate Tom “Tender” Polman. Cost: $135 per person, TO BE PAID IN ADVANCE. Cash only bar.
- Sunday, October 17: Departure Activities. TBD
The committee advises attendees to make all reservations for hotels and events by Sept. 15. Holiday Inn has a deadline of Sept. 23, but no later.
