With staffing at its highest level and plans for a modern new fire headquarters, the department’s leadership says the community can expect continued strong emergency response as Jeremy Berman prepares to succeed Brindle as mayor.

New Designated Bicycle Parking Requirements Approved In Westfield (patch.com) — Westfield has approved a new ordinance requiring bicycle parking at most new or significantly changed commercial, multifamily, and institutional buildings, aiming to make local streets more bike-friendly. The rules spell out how many long- and short-term spaces different uses must provide, how they must be secured and sheltered, and which properties, like single- and two-family homes, are exempt.
   

3. Ground Broken on 60-Unit The Vantage in Downtown Westfield (jerseydigs.com) — Construction has begun on The Vantage, a 60-unit mixed-use building at 112 Ferris Place that will add market-rate and affordable rentals, parking, and new retail to downtown Westfield. The project preserves and reuses the historic Mills-Ferris-Pearsall House as a cultural resource, with officials expecting residents to move in as early as 2027.
