9/11 Remembrance Ceremony Set In Westfield

Westfield will observe the 21st anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks with a ceremony at the town's memorial site.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield will observe the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks with a community gathering at the memorial site on North Avenue at East Broad Street.

The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, with opening remarks from Mayor Brindle.

Local clergy will offer prayers of commemoration, followed by the presentation of the ceremonial wreath by an honor guard and the playing of "Taps."

A total of eight residents died in the attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001:

Each year, the ceremony concludes with a period of silent reflection and show of community support.
