9 Westfield High School Graduates Attain Highest Grade Point Average

Westfield High School’s commencement ceremony took place on Tuesday, June 23, with 444 students receiving diplomas, and hundreds of graduates recognized for significant accomplishments, including awards, scholarships, and National Honor Society status.
Among those earning a 4.0 grade point average in all subjects for their entire high school career are Grace Cook, Jorge Ledesma, Frances Ling, Natalie Marcotullio, Melanie Nettler, Anastasia Smolenski, Caroline Stocking, Nina Wang, and Eli Wirtshafter *, who served as the Senior Class Treasurer.

Senior Class and Student Government President, Christopher Romano, and Senior Class Vice President, Melanie Snyder, addressed the graduates. Westfield High School Principal, Peter Renwick, delivered a speech to the graduating seniors earlier in the day, and during the evening celebration, made it a point to thank parents and teachers for the support they have provided. The keynote speaker was retired Westfield High School Social Studies teacher, Thomas Hornish, who gave an inspiring message to all in attendance.
Music, provided by the Westfield High School band, orchestra and choral programs introduced and capped off the ceremony, which took place inside the Westfield Armory due to weather.

Note: Due to an omission in the program, Eli Wirtshafter was not publicly recognized at graduation for attaining a perfect 4.0 GPA during his four years at Westfield High School.
