Car Fire Erupts In Westfield Near Garage

Westfield Firefighters battled a car fire on Sunday night.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Firefighters battled a car fire near a garage in Westfield on Sunday night.

At around 7:24 p.m. on Sunday, the Westfield Fire Department was called to the 300 block of West Dudley Avenue for a report of an active fire.

Within minutes of dispatch, the first arriving fire and police department members arrived on scene to find a vehicle fire next to a structure in the rear yard, said Westfield Fire Chief Michael Duelks.

"The fire was quickly extinguished, containing minimal fire damage to the second vehicle and minor heat damage to the garage," said Duelks.

Fire department members remained on scene until the vehicle was removed from the property. No injuries were reported.
