Tornado Watch Extended, Wind Advisory Issued In Union County
Power outages are beginning to be reported in the area.
UNION COUNTY, NJ — A tornado watch has been extended in Union County until 10 p.m. and a wind advisory was issued through 11 p.m. Friday.
The remnants of Debby are beginning to impact our region on Friday with power outages being reported.
As of 1:45 p.m., JCP&L is reporting 66 customers without power in Summit.

Power is expected to be restored around 3:30 p.m., according to JCP&L.
PSE&G is reporting 13 customers without power in Elizabeth, Hillside, Plainfield, Roselle, Scotch Plains, Union, and Westfield.

The NWS' hazardous weather outlook also includes a potential for isolated to scattered instances of flash flooding late Friday afternoon into Friday night, along with urban and poor drainage flooding.
"In addition, there is a marginal to slight risk for severe weather for the area, with the primary threat being damaging winds with a localized tornado threat," according to the NWS.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely on Friday, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m.
Heat index levels could go as high as 96. It will also be breezy with a south wind 13 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph.
There is an 80 percent chance of precipitation with new rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
The chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm continues Friday night before 11 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m.
Temperatures will drop to a low around 71.
There will be a south wind 8 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph. There is an 80 percent chance of precipitation. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
