Delayed Opening For Westfield Schools Due To Forecasted Snow

WESTFIELD, NJ — All Westfield Public Schools will have a delayed opening on Tuesday due to the forecasted winter storm and the potential for icy road conditions "to help safeguard our students and staff during their morning commute."

The National Weather Service is projecting between 4 to 6 inches of snow to fall in Westfield beginning Monday night and continuing through Tuesday.

"The Department of Public Works is salting main roads and known problem areas, and plowing operations will begin if more than three inches of snow accumulates on the roads. Please be prepared to move cars off the road in the event of plowable conditions," according to Town of Westfield, New Jersey.

Here is a look at the forecast:

Monday Night: Snow, mainly after 9 p.m. Low around 25. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Tuesday: Snow, mainly before 2 p.m. High near 35. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 15. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
