Excessive Rainfall Possible, Flood Watch Issued For Union County

With wet conditions and elevated creeks and streams, some flooding is possible with another 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain expected.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — Another round of heavy rain is expected on Wednesday prompting a flood watch to be issued for Union County.

The National Weather Service(NWS) issued a flood watch from Wednesday at 1 p.m. through Thursday at 6 a.m. as excessive rainfall is possible.

"With wet antecedent conditions and elevated creeks and streams, some flooding is possible with another 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain expected," according to the NWS.

The NWS warns that creeks and streams may rise out of their banks and fooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

Tuesday Afternoon: Periods of rain. High near 49. Northeast wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tuesday Night: Rain likely, mainly before 7 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. Light and variable wind becoming west around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Wednesday: Rain likely, mainly after 1 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 55. Calm wind becoming east around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch possible.

Wednesday Night: Rain. Steady temperature around 51. North wind 6 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between three-quarters and one inch possible.

Thursday: A 50 percent chance of rain, mainly before 4 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 54. North wind 14 to 16 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 54.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38.
