Firecracker Ignited Inside Westfield Business Bathroom: Blotter

The recent Westfield Police blotter also includes reports of criminal mischief, theft, fraud, and warrant arrests.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Criminal mischief, theft, fraud, warrant arrests were reported recently in the Westfield Police blotter.

Westfield Police Blotter – May 25 to May 31:

On May 26 at 1:03 p.m.: The owner of an auto repair shop on the 400 block of Central Avenue reports seeing a person on remote video surveillance cameras entering his business while it was closed. The suspect is seen on camera sneaking around and peering into drawers. The person left the premises before police arrived.

On May 26 at 3:16 p.m.: An employee of a business on the 400 block of Central Avenue reports that a person entered his establishment stating he was looking to use the bathroom. While there, $143 was taken, as well as two lottery tickets, and two packs of Newport cigarettes. The person left without incident.

On May 27 at 12 p.m.: A mountain bicycle was taken from a parking garage on the 300 block of West Broad Street. The lock was attached to the bicycle at the time it was last seen, but the locking mechanism may have possibly been left unlocked. The bicycle is valued at around $250. The theft was reported to have happened sometime over the past three weeks.

On May 29 at 3:36 p.m.: A resident of Naworth Pass reported fraudulent purchase from their bank account. The resident stated these purchases were made a couple of months ago and were just found now. The resident is at a total loss of $1,395.68 at this time.

On May 29 at 4:56 p.m.: A resident of the 800 block of Willow Grove Road reported his wallet stolen while on a NJ Transit Bus. The resident reported that multiple credit cards were fraudulently charged on online websites and retail stores.

On May 29 at 4:59 p.m.: A resident reported criminal mischief to a Westfield Town owned Butterly Statue located near the Traffic Circle. The suspect(s) drew on the back of the statue with a black sharpie marker.

On May 30 at 11:25 a.m.: Iyona Q. Rambert, 32, Elizabeth, was placed under arrest on Springfield Avenue during the course of a motor vehicle stop on the strength of two active ATS warrants from Elizabeth Municipal Court totaling $2,000. Rambert was provided with a new court date and released from the scene.

On May 30 at 4:50 p.m.: A Carol Road resident reports that an unknown subject contacted them via social media posing as a celebrity and talent manager. Over multiple months of messaging on social media, the unknown subject coerced the victim into sending around $5,000 via "MoneyGram". The victim ceased communication with the suspect and contacted police after realizing they fell victim to a scam.

On May 31 at 7:07 a.m.: Peggi Clemson, 59, Mountainside, was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant issued by Mountainside Municipal Court, pursuant to a motor vehicle stop on Mountain Avenue and Kimball Avenue. She was turned over to Mountainside Police on scene.

On May 31 at 10:41 a.m.: Brannen T. Depp, 22, Westfield, was placed under arrest on Rahway Avenue during the course of a motor vehicle stop on the strength of an active no bail NCIC warrant from Bedminster Municipal Court. Depp was processed and turned over to the Bedminster Police Department.

On May 31 at 1 p.m.: An unknown suspect lit off a firecracker in the bathroom of a business in the 100 block of Central Avenue causing damage.
