Firefighters, Police Salary Increase To Be Voted On At Westfield Meeting
Members of Westfield's Fire and Police Departments may receive pay raises, if an ordinance is passed by the town council Tuesday night.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield's town council will vote on an ordinance to raise the pay of several members of the Fire and Police Departments at a meeting Tuesday night.
The meeting agenda shows a schedule of increased salaries for various fire and police officials in the town. The highest salaries shown are for the Fire Battalion Chief, starting at around $140K and going up to about $153K by 2025.
According to the meeting agenda, if the pay raises are approved for the listed police officers and firefighters, the salaries will retroactively go into effect. This means raises for the year 2022 would be paid out this year.

The council also recently negotiated a four-year contract with the FMBA Local 30 — a labor union that represents the paid firefighters and fire officers working for the Westfield Fire Department. In June, the town council approved the contract in which both parties agreed to the updated salaries.
The salary schedule on the agenda also shows lower-ranked firefighters who could potentially receive salary raises. A firefighter on probation would receive the lowest-paying salary of about $41K, whereas a captain could receive up to $141K by 2025.
