German-Inspired Smoothie Café Coming To Westfield This Summer
Hailing all the way from Germany, a young couple has decided to launch their very first smoothie café business right in downtown Westfield.
WESTFIELD, NJ — Cynthia Noack, and her fiancée Sebastian, are introducing a taste of Germany to Westfield with their new smoothie bar — Reves Smoothie Café.
Both hailing from Germany, the couple decided to launch their own smoothie business after falling in love with the U.S., and Westfield in particular. The name "Reves" comes from the French word "rêve," which means "dream."
Noack said she decided on this name because it was her dream to start this business.

She first came to Westfield when she worked as an au pair in 2016. Noack then returned to Germany, where she met her fiancée, and moved back to the U.S. to start their business in downtown Westfield.
Unlike a typical smoothie bar that just sells smoothies, bowls and juices, Noack said Reves is more like a "European-type café."

"Just like the Starbucks model, you can obviously just go in there, grab your smoothie, or whatever you want to grab, and leave," Noack said. "Or you can stay in a very nice environment to get some work done."
Since it's café, Noack said the shop will also offer a variety of coffees and some breakfast foods like avocado toast.
As many people are now working from home due to the COVID pandemic, Noack explained that she wants the café to be a place where people can work outside of the confines of their home.
"We figured that so many people are still doing work from home, [and] you get so many freelancers now [who are] really trying to get out of the house to get work done, instead of just staying inside in front of their laptop," Noack said.
Although this is her first business start-up, Noack used to manage a gym back in Germany. She said this experience not only taught her valuable business skills but also the value of understanding her clientele.
Besides offering customers a variety of quality smoothies and products, Noack said her aim is to encourage customers to eat healthy and maintain a balanced diet.
The Reves mission statement states: "It's more than just a smoothie café offering superfood bowls, juices, shots, coffee, teas, toasts and more ... We want to encourage our customers to start believing in themselves and to simply find joy and happiness in life. And we believe that by making a small change in your daily routine, like holding yourself accountable to eat more balanced meals or to workout, you start to understand that you can take yourself and your goals seriously."
Noack told Patch she is also a certified nutrition coach and has a passion for encouraging people to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The couple has been documenting the entire process of construction and renovating their shop on Quimby Street via TikTok and Instagram.
