WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield is hopping on the bubble tea trend, as Gong Cha opened its doors downtown on Saturday.

The new store is joining the many other Gong Cha locations in the area, including in Millburn, Union, Montclair and Edison.

First founded in 2006 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Gong Cha now has stores all over the globe, selling a variety of milk teas, slush teas, coffee drinks and more. "Gong Cha" is a Chinese word translates to "tribute tea for the emperor," according to the website.

The store sells fresh tea, which is brewed throughout the day, as well as pearls (or bubbles) that are freshly prepared and tea-sourced from tea estates in Taiwan.

Gong cha is known across for its signature Milk Foam, which uses a creamy, sweet and savory flavor balance and whipped texture. It is meant to compliment the freshly brewed teas that the store offers.

You can choose from a variety of toppings, as well, from the classic pearls to coconut jelly, pudding and Oreo crumbs. Check out the full menu on their website.
