Hit-And-Run Of Man On Bike + Shooting Under Investigation: Union Co. Prosecutors

The hit-and-run and officer-involved shooting that occurred Friday in Plainfield are related incidents, according to Union Co. prosecutors.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — The Union County Prosecutor's Office is currently investigating two related incidents that occurred in Plainfield Friday morning.

Spokesperson Michael Sheets told Patch that prosecutors are investigating a hit-and-run involving the death of bicyclist in Plainfield, as well as an officer-involved shooting.

Sheets said the Homicide Task Force is looking into the incident where a man riding a bicycle was hit and killed on the 400 block of West Front Street.

The officer-involved shooting occurred in the area of the 600 block of West Front Street, Sheets said. No one was hit in the shooting, according to Sheets.

Sheets said this shooting involved the same male suspect who was connected with the hit-and-run of the person on the bicycle.

The Union County Prosecutor's Office's Shooting Response Team is handling that investigation, Sheets said.

There is also a male suspect in custody and charges are forthcoming, according to Sheets.
