High winds and heavy rain hit Union County overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday. See how much rain fell:

UNION COUNTY, NJ — The Tuesday night storm soaked some sections of Union County with more in store for this coming weekend.

Mountainside logged the most with more than 3.2 inches of rain that fell.

Here's how much rain fell in Union County overnight, according to the National Weather Service(NWS):

  • Mountainside - 3.28 inches
  • Westfield - 2.76 inches
  • Summit - 2.61 inches
  • New Providence - 2.4 inches
  • Cranford - 2.38 inches
  • Linden - 2.34 inches
  • Union - 2.31 inches
  • Clark - 2.26 inches

While the area is still drying out, another storm is headed to the area. Rain is expected to fall after 1 p.m. on Friday and pick up overnight into Saturday with thunderstorms.

About 1 to 2 inches of rain is projected to fall in that time frame, according to NWS.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 46. Southwest wind 7 to 13 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 31. West wind 7 to 10 mph.

Friday: A 20 percent chance of rain after 1 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 56. West wind 5 to 8 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon.

Friday Night: Rain, with thunderstorms also possible after 1 a.m. Temperature rising to around 55 by 5 a.m. Breezy, with an east wind 11 to 16 mph increasing to 17 to 22 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Saturday: A 40 percent chance of rain before 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a temperature rising to near 59 by 9 a.m., then falling to around 48 during the remainder of the day. Breezy.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 28. Breezy.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 34. Breezy.
