Kean University Celebrates Valentine's Day With Broadway Stars

From Kean University: Celebrate Valentine’s Day at Kean University with Broadway stars Jarrod Spector and Kelli Barrett in This is Dedicated: Music’s Greatest Marriages at Kean University’s Enlow Recital Hall on Saturday, February 11, at 7:30 p.m. The husband and wife duo will perform in a Broadway-style show that pays homage to music’s past couples and offers a glimpse into the challenges and realities of couples who live and work together as artists.

Spector and Barrett will bring to life the greatest songs that came from some of entertainment’s most notable marriage/partnerships, including Sonny and Cher, Beyoncé and Jay Z, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, and Alan and Marilyn Bergman. The show’s themes include love, heartbreak, triumph and despair, and celebrate marriage as a force behind popular music.

“We try to include as many couples as we could, about 18-20, and talk about their relationships,” said Spector. “At the end, we have a divorce medley. “Chapel of Love, “Be My Baby” and “How Sweet It Is” – all written or performed by couples whose marriage ended in divorce. It’s a little sweet and sour.”
This is Dedicated: Music’s Greatest Marriages covers many styles and genres of music, so it is sure to please music lovers of all ages.

“We wanted to do the music that people love, songs they grew up listening to,” said Barrett. “When we started looking into it, we had a list of 150 songs. The problem wasn’t finding music, it was eliminating it.”

Kean Stage’s Enlow Recital Hall is located at 215 North Avenue in Hillside, NJ, on Kean University’s East Campus.
