Meet Todd DeLaney, Lantern Hill's Executive Director
Getting to know the community's residents has been one of the most enjoyable aspects of his first year at Lantern Hill, DeLaney says.

When Todd DeLaney was appointed executive director at Lantern Hill, an Erickson Senior Living community in New Providence, N.J., it was a true homecoming.
"I grew up in North Jersey, about 30 minutes from Lantern Hill," he says. "I have three kids, and the oldest is entering fifth grade. We wanted to set up roots and get grounded somewhere that felt like home."
DeLaney was also searching for a workplace that felt like home.

Having worked at a number of Erickson Senior Living communities before, most recently at Avery Point in Richmond, Va., he knew that Lantern Hill would possess the supportive, friendly culture that he was looking for in this chapter of his life.
"The culture at Lantern Hill feels great, and I'm glad to be a part of it. It's been a warm welcome for me, and I'm so grateful!" he says.

Tight-knit community
DeLaney notes that meeting and getting to know the community's active, engaged residents has been one of the most enjoyable aspects of his first year at Lantern Hill.
"They take a lot of pride in their community--not only in Lantern Hill, but also the communities where they used to live," he notes.
Many residents moved to Lantern Hill from nearby areas such as Summit and Berkeley Heights. Some even lived in New Providence for several years.
"So, there's definitely that 'small town feel' within our community, based on the fact that so many of our residents have come from within five or ten miles," says DeLaney.
Exciting changes
DeLaney also supervised a large renovation effort during his first year.
"We are making a significant investment in updating some of our large amenity spaces. We started renovating our marketplace--Lantern Hill's community store--last year, expanding its size," he says.
The community also plans on renovating all restaurants located in the Union Square Clubhouse as well as the activity area, Fireside Lounge, and living room.
"It's a two-year plan, and it's creating a lot of great buzz. Residents are very excited about all the updates," notes DeLaney.
"Erickson Senior Living does an excellent job of maintaining the appearance and functionality of all its communities, including Lantern Hill. From beautifully landscaped grounds to inviting common spaces, we take great pride in ensuring amenities are not only attractive but also well-kept, creating a welcoming environment for our residents and their guests."
He adds, "As the community grows, we will introduce even more amenities and services, enhancing the value of the community and the vibrant, active lifestyle we aim to provide."
Demand remains high
Lantern Hill is currently on pace to sell out, although there are still some available residences. With this in mind, DeLaney urges anyone considering a move to Lantern Hill to join the Priority List, which saves a spot in line for a desired floor plan.
"In the past, prospective residents could consider their decision longer and still have access to a home that they really loved. Now, if you see a home that you like, you need to move quickly and join the Priority List," he says.
Take a test-drive
Priority List members can also sign up for a Live the Life stay--an overnight experience in a furnished suite that allows guests to enjoy amenities, dine at on-campus restaurants, and chat with current residents.
DeLaney notes that the Live the Life program often helps prospective residents determine that Lantern Hill is the right fit for them.
"It's the best way to test-drive Lantern Hill's vibrant lifestyle," he explains. "When Priority List members visit, they meet with current residents, ask questions, and get a feel for the community."
Home sweet home
DeLaney began his career with Erickson Senior Living more than 20 years ago. He credits the company's values and culture as the primary reason he has enjoyed his career with the company.
"The company's goal is to help people live better lives. I truly believe in what we do and how we do it," DeLaney says. "I see it reflected in the way we run our communities and the relationships that we build with our residents and team members."
He adds, "I'm grateful for the career opportunities that I've had a chance to take on, including 'coming home' to Lantern Hill!"
