The new café offers a variety of coffees, fresh-baked pastries, and a welcoming space focused on community connection and education.

Originally founded in 2009 as OQ Coffee by Ben and Jessica Schellack, the company has grown significantly under new ownership and now operates multiple locations. While customers can enjoy a variety of delicious drinks and bakery items, they can also take part in educational and community programs.

"The neat thing about Penstock that we absolutely enjoy and strive for is our passion for educating, for connecting with the community — and not in the cliché way — but we offer classes,” stated Paul Farmiga, head roaster at Penstock Coffee Roasters in a release. "We offer community outreach, so coffee sensory, coffee tastings, the roasting process, and the basics, like seed to cup."

“Penstock Coffee Roasters isn’t just serving great coffee — they’re investing in our community’s future,” stated Mayor Joseph Signorello III. “Their passion for education, connection, and local pride is exactly what makes Roselle Park so special.”

Farmiga’s love for Roselle Park — with its walkable charm and strong sense of community — sparked the idea to open in the borough, and he has no plans of changing his mind anytime soon.

“We plan on being here a long time because Roselle Park has a beautiful history, and we plan on working, connecting, being a part of it,” continued Farmiga. “I’m here, my family is here, and this is home. Penstock is home, and that’s what Roselle Park means to us.”

Penstock Coffee Roasters will offer a free cup of coffee, 50 percent off cold brew, buy two, get one free drinks, and bakery samples through Sunday, July 6, as part of a promotion for the opening of its Roselle Park location.
