Over the next few weeks, there will be overnight lane closures from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. the next, Monday through Friday, on Route 22 eastbound and westbound to install raised pavement markers (RPMs), rumble strips, and to restripe the roadway to complete the project.
The work is part of a $7.3 million federally funded pavement preservation project using the slurry seal on Route 22 that is improving approximately 6 miles of Route 22 westbound between Fairway Drive in Union Township and Dickens Lane in Scotch Plains, and about 2.5 miles of Route 22 eastbound between approximately Springfield Avenue in Springfield and Fairway Drive in Union Township. The project is expected to be completed in September 2024.
