Teens Arrested Following Westfield Car Burglary
A resident was alerted to movement in her driveway by her Ring doorbell.
WESTFIELD, NJ — Two teens were arrested following a car burglary in Westfield on Sunday night. Police issued the teens summons.
Police received a call for a home on Trails End Court around 3:49 a.m. for a report of a burglary to a car. A woman in her home was alerted through her Ring doorbell of movement in her driveway. According to police, the woman saw two people walk up her driveway, one of which entered her unlocked 2021 Mercedes Benz.
Patrol cars nearby found the two people along with two other teens they were with. All four teens were from Newark, according to police. One of the teens was wanted on a juvenile delinquency warrant issued by the Essex County Superior Court. He was subsequently remanded to the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center pursuant to the juvenile delinquency warrant.

The two teens involved and who were issued summons are 17 and 18-years-old.
At this time, the Westfield Police Department’s Detective Bureau continues to investigate reported burglaries and/or attempted burglaries of vehicles in the area.
